Little Known Areas Of Your Home That Can Indicate You Might Need An Exterior Paint Upgrade

Signs of exterior paint wear on house

Are you guilty of looking at other peoples homes as you’re walking or driving by and thinking, this is a really nice home, but it needs some TLC?

Maybe the curb appeal isn’t as good as it once was, perhaps the paint is fading, the front door looks dingy and if you happen to look up, you may notice the chimney looks weathered.

So many of us are rushing out of our doors, going here and there, that we may not take the time to look at our own homes.

As a homeowner, it’s a good idea to take a few steps back and have a good look at your home.

We really should, since it’s one of the biggest investments that we make and we want it to last for years to come.

Upon inspection, here are a few things to look for.

Door Jams

How does the door jam look?

Maybe the paint looks old and dingy.

Now bend down to take a closer look?  Touch it.  Is it soft? That may be a sign of wood rot.

Now do the same thing to the wood around your garage door.  What do you see?

Fascia Boards and Chimneys

Next, walk around and look at the windows, fascia boards, and chimney.  The chimney may be the most overlooked area of the house.  This very well could be because it’s up high and a lot of times in the back of the house.

It’s hard to tell sometimes if you have rotten wood since it’s up so high.  Professionals have an eye for this sort of thing.  This is what they do for a living and they know how to spot things you may not have noticed.

Painting the exterior of the home not only adds to your curb appeal, but also helps give your home another layer of protection from the elements against moisture and wood rot.

Catching it early can save money down the road.  Replacing the rotten wood is not as costly as you might think.

Here at Texas Painting And Gutters, we will give you a detailed bid to paint your home and if we notice rotten wood we’ll be able to help out with that as well.

A simple fix now could potentially save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars later.
